Description

The STIHL MS 172 is a compact petrol chainsaw for cutting firewood, grounds maintenance and felling small trees, made for home users as well as horticulture, landscaping and trade professionals. Its 31.8 cc STIHL 2-MIX engine gives 1.5 kW (2 hp) with low fuel consumption, and the powerhead weighs 4.5 kg without bar and chain. This version has a 40 cm (16-inch) guide bar and 3/8-inch Picco Micro 3 chain on a 1.3 mm groove for a narrow kerf. Anti-vibration mounts, a single control lever that springs back to the run position, side-mounted chain tensioning and a diagnostic socket for servicing are built in.
