Description

The INSIZE 4809 is a U.S. Standard sheet metal gauge covering sizes 0 to 36, equal to 7.938-0.179mm (0.3125-0.0070 in). INSIZE states it is used for gaging sheet metal, plate iron and steel, and that the gauge is hardened to HRC 50-57. As with a wire gauge, each numbered slot on the flat steel plate corresponds to a set thickness, so a sheet or plate is checked simply by fitting its edge into the closest matching slot.
